Ministries
Thank you for your interest in what we believe! Below is a list of just a few things you might find interesting!
Youth
Welcome to SYG! Every Sunday morning we gather together at 9 am and dive into a section of God’s Holy Word, giving it the context it deserves and then applying it to our own lives. During the school year we also have Wednesday Night Youth! We meet in the youth room at 6 pm and enjoy some good company, games and a home-cooked meal before we start our worship service.
We also seek out opportunities through the year for students to grow into their faith and to serve their community. Students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone to grow into the person God has called them to be through these events such as:
- CYC
- BAJA MISSIONS SMITHVILLE WORK CAMP BACK TO SCHOOL RETREAT VBS
- LEGACY
- ERUPT
- EU
Work Camp
Smithville Work Camp is one of our congregations favorite times of the year! Once a year many families set aside a week during the month of June to do some much needed volunteer work in our community. We do things such as building ramps for those in wheelchairs, cutting down trees that threaten houses, clean gutters, fix stairs, powerwash houses, and various other odd jobs!
Generally, the work camp concentrates its efforts in the smithville- dekalb county area and the camp is typically held around mid June. There is also no cost for the work that we do. All materials and labor are completely free for the homeowner. The deadline to apply is the first day of June.
Every year we set out applications at the local banks requesting work to be done around their house and yard (click here for a link to the online application), and we send out teams to go do that work! It is a great opportunity for us to be a light to the world around us and for us to serve others as Jesus served us! If you or someone you know needs work done around their house and can not otherwise have the work done, reach out to us and we would love to help take care of you and show you God’s Love!

- Ladies fun bonding activities *And so much more!!!
We would love to have you come join us!!!
Smithville Day School
Smithville Day School is a preschool program that meets every Tuesday and Thursday. During this time, our primary objective is to create an exciting and rewarding environment for your child. We also want to provide challenges that meet your child’s individual needs. We offer our services starting at 18 months all the way through to pre-kindergarten.
Baja
Every year we partner with an organization called Baja Missions (the link to their website will be below). We along with other churches in our area go down to Baja Mexico with the sole purpose to help the Lord’s kingdom in our neighboring country. While there we do many things including:
- Building a new church building for the congregation in Zapata, Mexico.
- We do house visits and pray with families.
- We do benevolence trips and give those in need clothes and various other items.
- We offer free dental work and medical checkups.
- We offer free haircuts.
- We put on a free VBS for the children in the community.
- More importantly we share God’s love with them.
This week-long mission trip is one of our congregation’s favorite weeks of the year! It is such a wonderful opportunity to be a servant and to help fellow members of our family. While we may only be in Mexico for one week out of the year the people of Baja have shared their lives, homes and love with us, leaving a lasting impact on several hearts here in Smithville Tn. It is because of them that we look forward to this mission trip year round.
