In our nation the Supreme Court is the highest court of appeals. There are several different types of courts that lead up to the Supreme Court. Any one of these lower courts may make a decision about a case but if the Supreme Court decides to hear that case, it is irrelevant what any other courts have previously decided. And whatever verdict the Supreme Court reaches sticks. All of the other courts, no matter how powerful, just or unjust, must become subservient when the Supreme Court rules.

I don’t know who made a decision in your life. I don’t know what court has ruled on your circumstances. It may have been the court of your employer who has ruled that you will never advance from your position. It may be the court of your finances has decided you will never better your lifestyle. It may be the court of the doctor who informed you that your disease is incurable.

Regardless of which lower court has ruled in your life, I’m urging you to, at the very least, appeal it to the Supreme Court. Even if you do nothing else at all, at the bare minimum place it on the docket so that God can decide what the final rendering is. If He takes the case, it doesn’t matter what verdicts the courts of your employer, your doctor, your lawyer, or anyone else have reached. Because when that Supreme Court speaks all the other courts become irrelevant. We can rejoice today because our sovereign God who reigns from His throne cares for each of us.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NLT)
