Lots of people today are only interested in consuming organic food. They don’t eat other stuff because it’s been sprayed with pesticides. Doctors and the media are both are telling us that the traditional way our food has been grown, in an attempt to grow it quickly and protect it from damage, is resulting in an accumulation of pesticides and contaminates to consumers. There is even a market now for companies like Whole Foods that make it possible to buy food that has not been so touched and contaminated by man.

People have been spraying pesticides on vegetables and fruits for years in an attempt to fix a problem. But in the process, we have just created a new problem. These same pesticides are full of chemicals that are very damaging when introduced to the human body. The irony is that the less that mankind tampers with the process by means of pesticide use, the healthier the plants are. God takes care of it all without us messing it up.

Let’s make this application: At one time or another we have all allowed mankind to spray the pesticide of this world onto our souls, and then we’ve wondered why the hearts didn’t work correctly. When we fill our souls with worldly things instead of the peace that God offers us in Jesus, anxiety, bitterness, wrath, and things like these abound. But if we’ll stop being double minded and turn back to God and fill our hearts with His Word instead of the cares of the world, we’ll find out that our God knows just what He’s doing.

How did people eat before we started spraying all of this stuff? God knew what He was doing before and He knows that He’s doing now. All we have to do is allow Him to do His thing and stop trying to contaminate what He’s in the business of perfecting.

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
