In one of his lessons, preacher Tony Evans directly addressed the topic that many like to shy away from. He stated: “What happens when people die without Christ? They go to hell! There is no respectable way to say it. They go to HELL. For how long? Forever!”

He continued, “There is always the person who will say, ‘Wait a minute. I am not sure that I believe in hell.’ This is one chance that might not be worth taking. Certain things you can afford to make a mistake on, but this isn’t one of them.”

He then elaborated, “If a man doesn’t have food, he can recover from that. If a man doesn’t live in a good house, that’s bad but he can recover from that. If a man doesn’t have the best clothes, that’s bad but he can recover from that. If he doesn’t have the best job that he prefers to have, that’s bad but he can recover from that. If a man has to walk because he can’t afford a car, that’s bad but he can recover from that. No matter how bad a person’s finances are, they can recover from that. But if a man dies without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and wakes up in hell, that’s a blow that he can never recover from.”

Our culture would listen to that teaching and decide that Mr. Evans is a little too harsh. But our Lord and Savior was just as direct when he taught the same principle in passages like Matthew 25:31-46. Similarly, the apostle John put it this way: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” John 3:36 ESV

Are you a disciple of Jesus? If you die without Him, you can’t recover from that!

In Christ,
